Day 3: An early start this morning as you enjoy a visit to Aalsmeer and the famous Bloemenveiling, the largest flower auction in the world. Here you experience the hustle and bustle of the market and take in the vibrant colors and beauty of the thousands of flowers there. Onwards then to Zaandam and the windmill village of Zaanse Schans. With its characteristic wooden houses, museums and many varieties of windmills, it has remained as it was since the 17th century. Many of the old crafts are still practiced in the traditional way. Just wander through the ancient narrow streets, visit the windmills (which are still in use), watch the cheese-makers and the clog-makers at work. Savor the atmosphere and experience the true, traditional Holland. Return to Amsterdam for the evening. Please note that during winter the museums and windmills at Zaanse Schans are closed but visitors can still walk around and visit the cheese farm and wooden shoe shop.

The Hague never fails to impress visitors with its relaxed and elegant atmosphere. Day 7: A busy day ahead as you set off for the cities of Utrecht with a stop in Gouda. Utrecht is situated in the heart of Holland and is one of the oldest Dutch cities. The canals and wharves enjoy worldwide fame because no other city has pedestrian wharves along its romantic 14th century sunken canals. Utrecht is also renowned for its museums ranging from Christian art to street organs. In Gouda, associated throughout the world with Gouda cheese, we tour The “Waag” (weigh house) and Gouda museum, featuring displays on the history of cheese and cheese-making equipment. We return to Rotterdam and spend an evening at the Thermen Barendrecht, a midsize Beauty Center featuring an Indoor/Outdoor swimming pool, several saunas and whirlpools, and a restaurant.

We will visit various attractions and learn about Holland’s innovative electricity-generating projects while driving along the coast through the small quaint towns of Renesse and Burgh-Haaamstede. On the way back we will stop at Thermen Sauna Papendrecht. We selected this spa because it is small, intimate and attracts a local crowd.
